Spring is in the air

Hello!

Despite the relentless grey skies and rain, the days are getting longer and Spring really is just around the corner – honest!

I tend to go into hiberbation in the winter months, although I love to see the beautiful shapes of the trees without their leaves, but things are starting to come back to life now and so am I!

Having had a long period of creative block I now have some new ideas bubbling up and a couple of new projects on the go.  I will be sharing these soon (maybe!).

Sometimes I get absorbed by a particular subject or place and create a group of images to do with that.  But what to do with them all?  I always feel that a picture isn’t really finished until it has been printed, so I sometimes make a hand-made book as a way of bringing a project together.  Recently I have been looking at turning some of these into actual printed books or zines which I can make available to others.  It’s early days, but some may be listed on my website soon.

I very much enjoy being part of a wider group of photographers and artists and will be involved in a few joint ventures this year which will be fun – more news in subsequent newsletters.

As always a full list of all the things I am up to can always be found on my events page

As well as thinking about books, I have been busy getting work ready to show at the Artspring Gallery in Tonbridge, where I am very excited to be a guest artist during March/April.  There is a “Meet the Artist” day on Saturday 2nd March, so if you are in the area do pop in and say hello.  Scroll down for details.

As a proud member of the Arena Photographers group I am very much looking forward to our annual seminar which takes place at the end of March.  The seminar is held over a weekend in Bournemouth at  lovely hotel which is only 5 minutes from the beach.  Arena always have very high quality and inspirational speakers.  It is so nice to meet face to face with other like-minded people – a rarity in these days of Zoom everything!   There is also a chance to share your own work during the weekend.  There are still some places left so if you are a photographer who would like to join us, please see the info below or visit www.arenaphotographers.com.
